Profiling the public and private lives of Woburn Abbey, reporter Bob Wellings talks of the attractions of the Abbey, with the offerings of the fair with its sideshows, kiosks and ice-creams contrasted with the arts, culture and beauty of the Abbey. Wellings interviews the Duke's Controller, Mr Jack Barton, who discusses the preparations for the forthcoming season, during which the Abbey hopes to attract half a million visitors between May and October. Wellings also interviews ex-Major James Hewitt, who operates a horse and coach service within the grounds as an added attraction. An extensive interview with the Duke and Duchess themselves reveals the dual purpose of Woburn's newly developed accessibility, as they aim to reduce debts incurred by Death Duties, as well as provide a place to entertain the crowds. The Duke is particularly keen to ensure that the Abbey be seen as 'a place that's fun, not a place that's just a dead museum'.
