A programme about Rouen in Normandy, France

The presenter stands outside Rouen Cathedral and introduces the Anglia Television news feature. The camera pans up to show the Cathedral spire; a choir can be heard. There are several shots of different aspects of the cathedral. The next shot shows a timber building. The presenter discusses the issue of preservation faced by the local council. The Notre Dame Cathedral can be seen in the distance. Next we see the second oldest restaurant in Rouen, "Auberge de L'Ecu de France", followed by the oldest restaurant in France, “La Couronne” (The Crown), built in 1345. The presenter sits with Harry, the guide and interpreter for the programme, in La Couronne for a traditional meal. The presenter asks a policeman for the time, jesting that French policemen supposedly never reveal the time to anyone. The presenter stands at the side of the busy road, commenting that there is far less traffic in Norwich. He then explains that the crew asked a policeman for permission to film on top of a high building but they were not allowed. A policeman then tries to cover the camera lens. The next shot shows the presenter on a bridge over the Seine, we see a very long barge pass underneath. In a restuarant, Harry and the presenter sample 70-year-old Calvados, the local speciality brandy. The following section shows the presenter and Harry at a food market, he asks Harry about Britain going to the metric system. The presenter then goes to a clothes shop and compares the prices of items to Britain. In the food market, the presenter asks Harry about the cost of food compared to Britain, they look at a shot wild boar for sale, and local cheeses. There is a shot of a young man on a motorbike and woman kissing. The presenter gives a summary of the programme on a hillside overlooking the town.
