Norwich 1 - Rochdale 0: Norwich Win The League Cup On Four Goal Aggregate

1962 , Norwich (Norfolk)

Anglia Television report on Norwich City FC's 1962 League Cup victory at Carrow Road, with a goal from Jimmy Hill.

Having won the first leg at Rochdale's Spotland ground by three goals, Norwich City Football Club return to Carrow Road in the hope of sealing victory in the 1962 Football League Cup final. With a comfortable three goal cushion, Norwich overcome early Rochdale efforts to build a steady attack, with a shot by Norwich winger Jimmy Hill beating the goalkeeper but cleared off the line by Rochdale defender Stan Milburn. Encouraged by the Canary faithful, a failed clearance from a corner allows Hill to find space and slot the ball between the 'keeper and a defender on the far post, leading to jubilation in the stands. Yet another strike by Hill is parried by the 'keeper and cleared by Milburn. After the match, Norwich captain Ron Ashman collects the cup from Mr Len Shipman of the Football League Management Committee, as Norwich City Football Club celebrate winning the cup with a 4-0 aggregate.
