The process of transferring the Master and crew of the Corton Lightship. The relief ship, `The Mermaid', sails out to the Corton Lightship, stationed 6 miles off the Yarmouth coast, whereby Mr Revel the co-Master, and three crew members, take over from the current Master, Mr Moffat, and three other crew members; a process that occurs every two weeks. The sailors also unload a range of goods essential for the crew on board the lightship. Mr Revel begins his duties, inspecting the ship, in particular the light in the tower, an essential component. Mr Moffat, and the relief ship ‘The Mermaid’ continue to the next light vessel, the ‘Cross Sand’. Finally, a shot of the rotating lights on the ‘Cross Sand’ light vessel at night.
