Background Information
At the time, each of the British political party's by-election campaigns were in full swing. The Norfolk Central by-election was forthcoming, to be held on 22 November 1962. Voting resulted in Conservative MP Ian Gilmour being elected as Member of Parliament for Central Norfolk, winning by 220 votes. Labour's local candidate narrowly missed a victory, taking second place in the number of supporting votes.
