Visiting the Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge, an Anglia Television correspondent speaks to the director, Dr. Gordon Robin, who discusses the institute's history, and its key functions in collecting and disseminating information as well as encouraging and stimulating research. In the Institute's extensive library of polar information, head librarian Harry King, discusses his role, the type of people who use the library and cooperation with other research institutes around the world. In the final interview, the first director of the Scott Polar Research Institute, Frank Debenham, shares his experience as a geologist on Scott's final, fateful Antarctic expedition, before a brief tour of the museum's key exhibits including Captain 'Titus' Oates' sleeping bag.

Background Information
Frank Debenham accompanied Captain Robert Falcon Scott on Scott's second and final trip to the Antarctic, the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913). Debenham was the expedition's geologist and his journals of his time in Antarctica are held at the archives of the Scott Polar Research Institute.
