Housing Blakeney

1961 , Blakeney (Norfolk)

Anglia Television report on Blakeney Housing Society's work in restoring the cottages in the village.

Dick Graham introduces the work of the Neighbourhood Housing Society in the village of Blakeney, with footage of the harbour and the flint-fronted cottages in the village. Dick Graham interviews Mrs [Norah] Clogstoun, Founder of Blakeney Neighbourhood Housing Society. Mrs Clogstoun explains why the society was formed – in order to recondition properties in need of serious repair and to fund renovation costs. Dick Graham interviews tenants occupying renovated properties, who in turn, detail the improvements made, particularly in relation to the more modern plumbing and heating facilities, and their satisfactions with the scheme. Dick Graham interviews Mr Crask, in charge of the men working on the reconstruction of the cottages, discussing the renovation and conservation issues. Local young fisherman, Colin [Bishop], explains that his home is also due to be modernised under the Blakeney Neighbourhood Housing Society restoration scheme.
