A short film showing various powerboats competing in the 1974 Daily Mirror Trophy Meeting at Oulton Broad in Suffolk.
From a stationary vessel on Oulton Broad, a number of high performance powerboats can be seen out on the water. The camera focuses on a twin-engine catamaran with a blue and orange hull as it streaks past the camera. The vessel bears the Union Flag on its hull, as well as the number 46 and the initials “SE” written in white on its side. The vessel is piloted by John Knights. Next a red and white-liveried catamaran bearing the number 26 can be seen speeding towards the camera before passing the camera vessel to the right of the shot. A conventional speedboat – decorated in red and white and named Knightmare – skips across the disturbed water as it speeds past the camera. Knights in boat 46 is then shown racing close behind boat 26, which seems to pull away as both overtake a slower moving vessel. The final shot shows Knights in boat 46 heading straight towards the camera, before executing a 180 degree left turn and heading away again.
