Keep Fit Ladies At Cambridge Guildhall

Women in the keep fit class at Cambridge Guildhall are facing the front and doing exercises while clapping along to music. Woman instructor shows the women how to do different movements. Pans across to the women copying her. Zooms in on the women’s feet while they are kicking their legs. The reporter Tim Child interviews the woman who is leading the group. She feels that the classes keep the women healthier and helps their poise and posture. She also says that you have to be careful as a leader as you can’t make people do things they don’t want to do. Tim Child comments that her role is like a musical comedian, to which she laughs and agrees. She says that most keep-fitters are cooperative as they come to enjoy themselves and be together. When asked about the age range, she says that no one is beyond help and the club is open to everyone. She says that even teenagers with perfect figures need exercise for their poise. More close ups of a group doing exercises and clapping. Tim Child interviews a woman who is a member of the keep-fit class and asks whether they would like a mixed class for men and women. She answers that she thinks it would be very good. He comments on the mood of gay abandon, to which she replies that it is actually quite serious as you have to know what you’re doing in the sequence otherwise it messes it up for everybody else. He interviews another woman who says that it is fun as they are doing it together. She doesn’t think it would make any difference if it was a mixed group. Another woman says that she doesn’t think men would be able to do it. Tim Child then joins in on the exercise class which ends with him laughing at the camera.
