[Mr Pastry Pushes Pennies for Charity]

1960 , Aylsham (Norfolk)

Anglia Television report on a fundraising effort by television's 'Mr Pastry'.

The BBC's bumbling resident clown, Mr Pastry (portrayed by Norwich-born Richard Hearne), visits the Unicorn Inn in the Norfolk market town of Aylsham to raise money for charity. Standing behind the bar, he gives a speech to a small crowd, in the hope of raising money for the establishment of a 'spastic' centre in Norfolk. To kick off the fundraising effort, he shoves a huge pile of pennies off the bar, which fall into a waiting blanket with a large crash, prompting applause from the crowd.
