Time and Death Watch Beetle have taken its toll on "Norfolk's finest building", so workmen carry out numerous repairs to the Cathedral. Oak timber beams are cut and treated with preservative to replace rotting ones under the supervision of foreman Harry Jew. Plumbers, Stone Masons and Lead Casters are also engaged to work of the repairs. Mr Sumner, a local inventor and owner of a new lead castings in Pottergate, Norwich, demonstrates his technological approach to lead casting, including his concrete casting bed, five times more productive that the sand variety.
