Cambridge's newest college, Churchill, is under construction away from the town centre, and represents the new Cambridge, a city in the sixties. People come from across Britain and around the world to study and work in Cambridge, and this Anglia Television programme contrasts the two sides to Cambridge life, the undergraduate and the 'ordinary' citizen. Residents and students discuss life in the city, with older residents talking about how it is now and how it has changed. The university students are shown at work and at play, from rowing on the River Cam to the annual 'rag' day. Elsewhere in the city is the 'other side' of Cambridge: a city of railway yards, terraced houses, shopping centres and factories.
