Plan To Improve Palace Cinema At Thetford

1959 , Thetford (Norfolk)

An Anglia Television news report on the improvements to Thetford's Palace Cinema.

Although the exterior of the Palace Cinema in Thetford looks rather traditional and plain, the foyer has undergone a complete redesign, with new shops and bright, detailed wallpaper. Talking to Anglia Correspondent David Thurlow, owner Ben Culey discusses the improvements and the future prospects for his establishment in the face of widespread cinema closures. Planning to attract new residents from London settling in the ever-expanding town, Culey has installed a television for pre-cinema viewing and opened new shops selling the traditional confectionery along with groceries, frozen food and delicatessen items, with plans to expand into furnishings in the future.
