Aerial views from a Lincoln plane and interview with Squadron Leader Hills.

Film to accompany an Anglia Television news story that the last Lincoln Bombers in service with the RAF are being withdrawn at the end of the month. Shot of a Lincoln plane taking off. The pilot and co-pilot in the cockpit. Aerial view over the coastline at Lowestoft with the Claremont Pier. View of the engines. More aerial views from high up and then on approach to airfield. Anglia TV reporter Colin Bower interviews Squadron Leader Hills who is asked about the role of the Lincoln planes at Watton over the past seventeen years. He explains that the planes were initially intended to be part of Tiger Force to go to the Far East against Japan. After the war ended, the planes were used as part of the main force of Bomber Command until 1952-1953 when the Canberra planes took over. More recently, the planes have been used at Watton to carry radar and radio testing equipment. Two of the planes will be kept as historical aircraft, and the others may be sold or scrapped. The crews who fly the Lincolns will be pleased to move on to more modern aircraft.
