Paul Barnes interviews Father Christmas in his grotto while he gives children presents and talks to them.
Two boys sit on Father Christmas’s knees in the grotto and promise to be asleep before he arrives to deliver their presents. They promise to leave him a mince pie. In a separate sequence following a film countdown, mechanical Gnomes make toys in the grotto while the song ‘Jingle Bells’ plays in the background. The reporter Paul Barnes says it's hard work for the Gnomes to make toys but Father Christmas works harder than all the rest. A little girl sits on Father Christmas’s knee. Paul Barnes reads out letters that Father Christmas has received and says that they are sent from adults as well as children. Paul Barnes interviews Father Christmas and talks about the requests he gets and the hundreds of miles he travels to deliver presents. Father Christmas says that most country folk ask for tractors for Christmas. Paul Barnes dresses as Father Christmas to take over the role. A little girl asks for a watch and takes a numbered present. The next girl asks for a dolls house. Still dressed as Father Christmas, Barnes asks the children what they are going to do on Christmas day.
