Background Information

This match ended with a win for home team March 2 - 0. The 1978–79 season saw March reach the first round of the FA Cup but they lost 2–0 at Swindon Town. In their second season of the Isthmian league 1974-75 Southall finished as runners up and gained promotion to the top division of the league and the club's name was changed to Southall & Ealing Borough. The club then spent three seasons in the top division before suffering two relegations in a row and finishing in the bottom division of the Isthmian league, at which point the club name was changed back to Southall. Clement Freud served as the Liberal MP for the Isle of Ely constituency (later North East Cambridgeshire) from 1973 to 1987.
