Guy Michelmore interviews footballer Justin Fashanu, who says he is disappointed that he couldn’t stay and continue his development with Norwich City but he has to move on professionally. It is a big wrench as Norwich has taught him everything he knows and so it is a very emotional day for him. Michelmore comments on how suddenly it has happened and how it must have taken Fashanu’s breath away. Fashanu agrees that it has but that he’s got to put it behind him now and work. He is going to have a rest by the pool in Spain and then get back to soccer. They discuss his new manager and the phone call he had with his mum when he found out he was leaving Norwich. Interview with Sir Arthur South, Chairman of Norwich City Football Club. He talks about the number of footballers coming on and the ways to help them. He’s sure that in the next few days they will have a few names of replacements.

Background Information

Justin Fashanu was the first black footballer to command a £1 million transfer fee, with his transfer from Norwich City to Nottingham Forest in 1981. Sir Arthur South (29 October 1914 – 28 January 2003) was Chairman of Norwich City Football Club (1973-1985). His involvement with Norwich City began in 1966 when he was made a Director and it was when Geoffrey Watling stood down as Chairman that Sir Arthur South succeeded him on August 30, 1973.
