At a civic reception held to celebrate the success of the Ipswich Speedway Team which won the League title for the first time in 1975, the Mayor of Ipswich greets members of the team. Their trophy is placed on the table, and they have refreshments. John Louis then signs the visitors’ book.

Ipswich Witches won the League championship two years running 1975 and 1976. John "Tiger" Louis, born 14 June 1941, is an England international motorcycle speedway rider who rode for Ipswich, Newport, West Ham, Oxford, Wembley, Halifax and King's Lynn during his career. Mrs Beryl James served as Mayor of Ipswich 1975-76 and 1982-83.
