Tennis: Prudential County Cup

Anglia TV: Professional tennis player Lesley Charles is interviewed about her return to the game after a serious back injury.

She explains that she had an operation in March and so isn’t 100% at the moment. She is glad that she can still play again as her back injury could have been a threat to her career. Harrison asks her what she dislikes about the tennis circuit, to which she replies that you never really have a base and so are always living out of a suitcase. However, the benefit is that you do travel a lot and meet so many people and so her social life is good. Harrison states that she has been in the game a long time and asks how much coaching she gets now. Lesley Charles replies that as a junior she had quite a bit of coaching but these days she doesn’t have much at all. Harrison explains that she is ranked number nine at the moment and asks which areas of her game she would have to improve to get up to the second, third and fourth rankings. She replies that at the moment she needs to get over her back trouble which is going to take some time. There is a shot of her serving as she states that she needs to work on her serve as her height gives her a big advantage. She also feels that she needs to work on her speed.
