Pathe Newsreel showing the UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain meeting with the German Chancellor Adolf Hitler in Munich, Germany in 1938.

Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister of the UK, and his party arrive in a car with crowds of people waving on either side of the road. The Chancellery building is shown with large Nazi flags outside. Shot of Nazi soldiers in uniforms opening the car door for Chamberlain and escorting him to the steps of The Berghof building where Hitler, Chancellor of Germany, meets him. Nazi soldiers give the Nazi salute on the steps. Guards with bayonets stand to attention in a row. Hitler and Chamberlain meet on the steps of The Berghof and shake hands. Another close up of a soldier holding a bayonet. Hitler and Chamberlain walk up the steps side by side, with the Swastika on the arm of Hitler’s uniform clearly visible. The final scene is footage of a crowd at Downing Street in London. This footage was added to Anglia Television film library in 1963 for use in Anglia programmes.

Adolf Hitler was a German politician who was the leader of the Nazi Party, Chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945, and Führer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945.
