Views of Ketton Cement Works and an interview about future development.

This report opens with views across fields at Ketton, Rutland towards the Ketton Cement Works with its vast structures and three tall chimneys. Closer view of the sculptural shapes of the grey works premises and smoke emitting from a chimney. Mr Denton stands in a control room with the continuous flow of cement monitored on a screen behind him. He says the £40 million represents an enormous investment, the largest the UK cement industry has ever received, and one of the highest investments which will be made in private industry this year. Asked about the future loss of a third of the workforce with 200 jobs at risk, he says he prefers to see this as securing jobs for the future for the majority of employees. In the short term, another 100 or so jobs will be created. Vacancies will not be filled, so reducing the workforce through “natural wastage”. The reporter was Greg Barnes for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
