Auction ring scenes and interviews with horse owner and trainer.

Exteriors of the buildings at Tattersalls bloodstock auctioneers including the golden flying horse weathervane. Interior scenes of the auction ring as a horse is sold for 1,400,000 guineas. The camera picks out people in the crowd, including a woman wearing a Parker Slinger pen round her neck. Horse owner and breeder Robert Sangster talks about his visits to sales internationally and his annual spend on yearlings, comparing the purchase of a promising young racehorse to buying an aeroplane. Outdoor scenes of people at Tattersalls and the external ring and stables followed by more auctions at the indoor ring. Horse trainer Ian Balding talks about what he looks for in a yearling besides the breeding pedigree. More scenes of the horse auction including sale for 1,550,000 guineas. The auctioneer says ‘please don’t clap – you’ll frighten the horse’. The reporter was Gerry Harrison for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
