Parents withhold their children from school in Peterborough.

Exterior scenes of the former Peterborough County Girls’ School which closed in 1982, with pupils and some members of staff moving to the Ken Stimpson Community School in Werrington, also shown, with children in the playground. This video was filmed as part of a news report that the parents of fifty children may be prosecuted for keeping their children away from school. Interview with Mahebub Ladha of Peterborough Racial Equality Council who says that many parents cannot afford to pay because they are on benefits. Four parents he has spoken with that day who are facing prosecution are prepared to see it through to the end. The reporter was Greg Barnes for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
