Liberal Party proposal to build opposition to waste sites at Elstow and elsewhere.
Simon Hughes of the Liberal Party addresses a press conference to discuss the findings from his visit to the site at Elstow, Bedfordshire proposed for dumping of nuclear waste. Anglia TV reporter Rebecca Atherstone explains his opposition to the plan and concern about the proposed transportation of waste through the village. He was surprised to find small businesses currently operating on the site and sees potential for the future of the brick industry there. Bedfordshire County Councillor Janice Lennon is at the table for the press conference. Simon Hughes is interviewed. Mentioning Stockton in Cleveland as one ally, he describes a strategy to involve more backbench MPs from other areas of the country potentially affected by the proposals to create an effective national opposition to the government’s plans. This short video was made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
