Fishing Net Hat
1939 , Great Yarmouth (Norfolk)
Cat no. 1710
Cinemagazine item showing how some fishing net and a piece of old rope can be turned into a fashion item – by an old Yarmouth fisherman!
After measuring the circumference of the head of a young woman with a piece of rope, an old fisherman sets about making a hat. The rope forms the brim, and a piece of fishnet makes up the rest of the hat. The woman puts the hat on, and then checks her image in her compact mirror held by the fisherman.
