Daily events at Sheringham Station

The first sequence in this short amateur film shows farm workers loading sugar beet onto a lorry.The second sequence shows them loading the sugar beet onto railway wagons at Sheringham Station. The Station buildings can be seen. There are shots towards Cromer, showing a signal box and the site of the new Sheringham Station post-Beeching.The third sequence shows the Station used by the steam trains of the North Norfolk Railway. A yellow steam engine steams along the line, approaching Sheringham Station. It stops and passengers climb aboard. The final shots are of another (red) train steaming through the countryside.

Background Information

Sheringham Station closed to passenger traffic on 6th April 1964 and to goods traffic on 28th December, 1964. The station and the line from Sheringham to Weybourne was taken over by Central Norfolk Enterprises for preservation. No regular service was run until 1975.
