The Saffron Walden Fire Brigade on parade and undertaking two fire drills.

A fire crew line up in front of their fire engine as the camera quickly pans along the line. The fire crew tackle two different types of emergency during the drill. For the first, they have to get out the water pump and hoses to tackle a fire on ground level. For the second they have to get out the ladders to rescue a casualty from a burning tower. In between these two emergencies, the firemen are filmed on parade.

Background Information

The Saffron Walden Fire Brigade was one of only two brigades in Essex at this time to have a ladder. This film was made to display the ladder.
