Three montages set at the Chelmsford Railway Station.
There are shots of a deserted Chelmsford Station and then shots of passengers arriving. There are interior shots taken of a signal box and passengers wait on the platform. These three ideas form a montage that is repeated. A goods train passes and there is a shot of the indicator board inside the signal box. The Britannia arrives as another train leaves. Passengers alight and there are further interior shots of the signal box. The guard signals for the train to leave. It pulls away, leaving a young couple on the station platform watching it depart. The train continues over a viaduct and the river.
