Carnival procession passing through Chelmsford, and the fancy dress competition.
A carnival passes through a crowded town centre in Chelmsford. Many floats are decorated as battleships. The procession continues through the town centre, including a fire engine and crew. The third shot is taken out of the town centre where crowds were thinner. This shows the Mayor and other dignitaries passing in open cars. A steam traction engine follows as part of the procession. Women push prams and people in fancy dress follow. At the football ground, there are shots of many of the fancy dress competitors. There are shots of a prize giving ceremony, including a lady being presented with a bunch of flowers. There are further shots of people in fancy dress.
