A film about the train journey between Wivenhoe to Brightlingsea, Essex.

This film opens with the crest of British Railways. There is a shot of the sign for Wivenhoe Station, Junction for Brightlingsea. There are shots of the station. An electric train passes through. There is a shot of a signal and of the surrounding countryside. A diesel multiple unit pulls into the platform bound for Brightlingsea. A member of the Station staff cleans the windows and there are interior shots showing the driver's cab and the controls. The train leaves the station. The main part of the film is shot from the driver's cab, there are many interior shots of this. Most of the film shows the countryside between Wivenhoe and Brightlingsea until the point where the train pulls into Brightlingsea Station. There are some shots of passengers in the train. There are many shots of the estuary as the train passes and a long shot of the train passing over the estuary. The train pulls into Brightlingsea Station. There are further scenes from the cab. Features along the route include a pump by the side of the train, used by steam trains for taking aboard water, and a red flag flying on the bridge.
