Frinton Coronation Procession

1937 , Frinton-on-Sea (Essex)

The people of Frinton celebrate the coronation of King George VI with a procession and a fete.

Riders on horseback dressed in period costumes lead the procession along Frinton High Street. Decorated floats are drawn by horse and by lorry. The fire engine takes part in the parade. Spectators and people in fancy dress make their way to the recreation ground. There is a fete with side-shows and a fairground carousel. Many in the crowd are dressed in overcoats and the weather looks overcast. Riders in historical costume demonstrate some show jumping. The final shots are of the exterior of the Ratcliffe Bros. garage in Frinton.
