Promotional film for the Broads Authority, illustrating conservation, development and the problems encountered by this unique area of wetland.

Sequences at Ranworth Broad, a boat yard at Wroxham, Barton Broad from the air and BTCV volunteers (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) clearing scrub at Broad Fen at Dilham, introduces the film. At Hoveton Little Broad conservation projects are in progress, including the dam to keep out the fish and strip the water of phosphates. At How Hill the electric boat, `Electric Eel' is featured. The pleasure wherry, `Hathor' is under sail on Barton Broad. Children watch a puppet show at How Hill and the River Inspector is on his boat on Ranworth Broad. Old windpumps are shown and the threat of salt water is mentioned, followed by a brief shot of the Yarmouth tidal barrier. Halvergate marshes, Breydon Bridge Road and the Authority's information centre at Yarmouth are followed by aerial shots of the reed marshes at Hickling. Finally, boats on Barton Dyke and an Authority logo on a life belt.
