What Have They Done to Our Town?
1978 , Colchester (Essex)
Cat no. 883
A tour of Colchester, illustrating the continuing changes around the town.
The Town Hall, the High Street and its shops, and buildings in the Dutch quarter establish this film about the changing face of Colchester. More buildings and roads illustrate the old and the new: Stockwell Congregational Church, a garage in Queen Street, empty shops in St. Botolph Street, new roads, relocated churches, the Cameo Cinema, the Mercury Theatre. There are views of Head Street, the old Cattle Market in Middleborough, the new roundabout under construction near the railway station, and land around Highwoods about to be developed. Finally, scenes of a flower show in Castle Park.
