A history of the Norfolk lifeboats illustrated by live action and stills sequences.

The Sheringham lifeboat, Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, being launched from the beach, introduces the subject of the film, which takes an historical look at wrecks and lifeboats of the past. The MV Jonet, a coaster which ran aground at Mundsley in 1969 is featured. There is a black and white sequence of the Whitby rowing lifeboat. At Cromer, there are scenes of the lifeboat station and the grounded sailing barge, Sepoy; the launch of the beach lifeboat, William Henry and Mary King in 1964, from the now closed No.2 station; and the launch of the Ruby and Arthur Reed from the end of the pier. A black and white wartime sequence from 'Gale Warning' features Henry Blogg and the lifeboat named after him. The next station is Happisburgh with its small inshore boat. At Sheringham, Princess Marina, President if the RNLI, launches the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows in 1961. The coxswain talks about the boat. At Wells, there are views of the quay, and scenes of whelk boats fishing, the landing and cooking of the catch, the launch of the Cecil Paine, and Princess Marina naming the new boat, Ernest Tom Neathercote. At Caister, the tragedy of 1901 is illustrated in stills, then the boats of the Caister rescue service are featured. Finally, scenes aboard the Gorleston Lifeboat, the Khami.
