A newsreel following the parade of the 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment through Ipswich after their return from duty in Malaya.
The 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment marches through Ipswich to Christchurch Park. They are officially welcomed after their three-year tour in Malaya. Old comrades from World War 1 are present. They watch with other spectators as the battalion parades in the park. The Mayor of Ipswich inspects the soldiers and makes a speech. He presents two silver bugles, on behalf of the townspeople, to the regiment. Brigadier Backhouse receives the gifts. The Mayor takes the salute outside the Town Hall. Many thousands of people line the route.
