E.R. and F. Turner Ltd, Flour Milling Engineers
1934 , Ipswich (Suffolk)
Cat no. 819
Established in 1837, the foundry of E.R. and F. Turner is filmed by an unknown cameraperson before the work became automated.
The old iron foundry on Foxhall Road is at work, casting parts for flour milling machines. There are scenes showing the drawing office, pattern shop and store, and the laboratory. The casting is filmed in great detail - from pattern making, filling core boxes, pouring molten metal and, finally, to testing the resulting castings for strength.
