A big sports day and fete is held in Alexandra Park, Ipswich. The field has a running track, a marquee, and pavilions. The men's sprinting race, doughnut on a string eating competition, young women's skipping competition and women's race with balloons and sticks, are all covered. Entrants for the fancy dress competition include an advert for CWS soap, trade adverts for cigarettes and for self-raising flour, and a man posing as a Victorian 'dress reformer'. Finally, a men's hurdle race and a short sequence from a throwing competition.
