The first of two films of the Unwin family at home and on holiday, owners of Unwins the Builders, Histon, Cambridgeshire.

A little girl, Margery, plays in the garden of the Unwin's family home at Histon, followed by shots of baby Diane in a bath and in a high chair. A family holiday at Jaywick, Essex in 1937: the children on the beach; the boating lake; mothers pushing prams along the promenade. The family and puppy dogs are seen in the garden at Histon, followed by scenes at Christmas time in Tudor Rise, Colney Lane, Cringleford, Norwich. Hunstanton, 1938: the family on the beach in bad weather; the holiday home; the housekeeper, Mrs Lea; the sea front; the pier; the boating lake and the children playing. Finally, the children, their toys and various animals in the garden of their Norwich home.
