A series of scenes around Hickling, Stalham and Gorleston filmed by the ecologist and artist, Marietta Pallis.
Born in 1882, Marietta Pallis, was an ecologist and artist who rented, and then owned, the marshland property of Long Gores, Hickling. She died in 1963. These short scenes were probably used to record images for later sketches or paintings. The farming shots probably feature Long Gores farm and include marsh litter being racked, carted and stacked. Horse and hand labour are much in evidence, and one stack is thatched. On Hickling Broad, sailing boats are visible in the distance. There are scenes at Stalham livestock market, including the poultry section. At Gorleston, men unload coal by basket from a collier and dump it on the quay.
