In the second of three sequences, local film maker, Mrs Dowding records events during the launching of the region's lifeboats.
Yarmouth lifeboat crew members, and a woman selling Outspan oranges in aid of the RNLI, stand on the quay. The Louise Stephens lifeboat is followed by a Dutch lifeboat's visit to Gorleston in 1962. The Sheringham boat, Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, is named and launched in the same year by Princess Marina. The Lowestoft boat, Frederick Edward Crick, is launched in 1963 and motors out of the harbour. In 1964, at Gorleston, an American lifeboat is undergoing trials. A sequence at Caister in the same year shows the launch of the Royal Thames and her crew.
