A roll of honour to the men of Braintree who served in World War I.

The first of two reels originally presented at the Palace Cinema, Braintree, Essex comprising a series of photographs honouring the men of Braintree who served during World War I. Many are formal studio portraits but some were taken in camp or at the Front. Those honoured served in various ranks across the whole of the armed services, from mounted brigades to the Royal Navy. The film features group portraits with titles including 'All Braintree Boys, Serving', 'Bridge Building', 'A Few of the Yeomanry', 'A Merry Party' and 'A Group of the Old Boys at Play', whilst individual soldiers are identified by name and rank, with further details such as 'wounded' occasionally added. Also included is a facsimile of Lance Corporal B. Boyton's Distinguished Service Medal, and a portrait of a Royal Medical Army Corps driver named P. Gage, who stands proudly in front of a Kathiawar States Ambulance in western India.
