A newsreel depicting the Norfolk farm labourers' strike of 1923.
Opening intertitles describe the tragedy of a strike where labourers are not able to live on the wages farmers are able to pay them. Machinery stands idle whilst a farmer attempts to carry out the work with a single horse. A representative from the Agricultural Workers' Union addresses the labourers in the market square at Aylsham; standing by is George Edwards, a Norfolk farm worker who later became an MP. Lord Kimberley, a sympathetic Labour Peer, appears beside a cattle byre. Finally, a turning windmill represents blacklegs at work.
