BBC East documentary profiling the village Shimpling.
The film opens with shots of Shimpling, including thatched cottages. Sallie Walrond, a founder member of the British Driving Society, prepares her horse and then drives through the village. There is a static shot of the cover of her book, `The Encyclopaedia Of Driving' and shots from the pony and trap as she drives through the village. There is a shot of winter scenes at the home of her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walrond senior. They walk outside their house. Mrs. Walrond, better known as the author, Norah Burke, writes books about wildlife and ecology. The travelling shop arrives and people buy fresh meat from it. Goodman visits Pippa Heskett and Phillippa Shallcrass, two craft workers who have restored a 17th-century cottage. Pippa Heskett is a stained glass designer. She is working on a design for the Parish Church at Grays, Essex. Other examples of her work feature. Phillippa Shallcrass is a tapestry designer. She produces kits for tapestries and also sells the finished product. She is also seen at work.The final shots are of Chadacre Park, now an agricultural college, frequently painted by Thomas Gainsborough.
