Local newsreel record of a Great Yarmouth carnival, 1934.
A bus in a very crowded street. It shows the parade of floats for the Yarmouth Carnival, 1934, as they pass the camera. Floats are drawn by both horse and lorry. The Carnival Queen, Alice Woodger, features on one float; another pulls a mock herring drifter called `Herring Catcher' (YH 1934.) There is a float from Steward and Pattesons and another promotes the League of Nations. The second camera angle shows further scenes of the parade before scenes showing the crowded streets of the town. Many people pose for the camera. People are filmed sitting in deck chairs for a Pier or sea front show. A bus leaves from in front of the Britannia Pier and there are further crowd scenes. The Carnival floats assemble and parade at a recreation ground. The sea theme is prominent. There is a float carrying King Neptune. There are further shots of people in fancy dress. The final scenes show the parade at a further point along the sea front.

It may also show a combination of several parades. The smaller parades assembled at Beaconsfield Recreation Ground, paraded along Marine Parade and then took a circular route dispersing in front of the Britannia Pier.
