Do you remember the old house that nobody seemed to want? And do you wonder at it? Bad lads had smashed all the windows and Mice had eaten the ceilings. But someone then had a brain wave. Said 'A Cinema here we will build.' Thus the men who soon worked might and main gave the house that is now nicely filled. Now Adam's a name that's as old as the age, And Mortimer's work is said by the sages, Is well executed - being given great care, Because builders like Adams are now very spare. That is why Adams & Mortimer built the Whitehall. They use only first class labour and the finest materials. Adams & Mortimer's happy gang snapped during various stages of the building of the Whitehall. Take particular note of the WEE apprentices.Adams & Mortimer. Every brick well laid. Good pint and plenty of it. Background Information

The Whitehall Cinema, Witham, opened on December 17th, 1928, having been converted from a Georgian house and incorporating the facade in its design. It closed in 1964 and was derelict for many years. It was restored again and reopened as the Public Library in 1980
