Newsreel stories on Britain's then-oldest person, Ada Roe and Pilot Officer Whyer.

Two stories from Pathe News issue 68/21 released 10 March 1968. Ada Roe. There are a few frames showing go-cart racing on the front of the film. These lead into a feature about Mrs. Ada Roe of Lowestoft, aged 110 and the oldest person in Great Britain at that time. The item begins with shots of horse-drawn carriages in a busy London street at the beginning of the 20th century and then shots of fashionably women of that period. This cuts to a shot of the exterior of Ada Roe's Victoria Dairy in Lowestoft. Mrs. Roe sits in her shop and serves customers. There is a close-up shot of her face. Vivienne Whyer. Pilot Officer Vivienne Whyer gaining her certificate for flying at speeds of more than 1000 miles per hour. There are shots of Lightning aircraft on the ground at Coltishall and then of an aircraft landing. Pilot Officer Whyer is shown in close-up in the cock pit and then alighting from her aircraft. The commentary makes a remark about high-heeled flying boots. Pilot Officer Whyer receives her certificate for becoming the 1000th member of the 1000 mph club, the 9th woman to achieve the distinction. She drinks a glass of champagne.
