An inter-school sports day at Crown Meadow in Lowestoft, 1921.

This film opens with some of the contestants posed for the camera. The camera then pans to show other contestants and spectators around the sports ground. There are girls and boys present. The girls give a display of catching. There are numerous races shown. Both boys and girls compete in a series of obstacle races. The obstacles are made on a fishing theme, using masts, barrels and nets. Although the girls climb through barrels and crawl under nets, none of them is wearing sports kit - most are wearing white dresses. Girls also compete in a dressing race. Boys compete in a piggy back race, and egg and spoon race and three-legged races. In one of these the boys are tied facing different ways. There is also a serious sprint. The film ends with further shots of the crowd.

Background Information

All of the obstacles of the obstacle race were connected with the fishing industry. Part of Crown Meadow is now the ground of Lowestoft Town Football Club.
