The 4th Battalion of the Norfok Regiment.

The film opens with shots of the Britannia Barracks across Mousehold Heath. Items from the regimental museum, including weapons ands a drum, are shown. On an unidentified heath location, the soldiers of the 4th Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment undertake training exercises. They fire a mortar, practise firing rifles and undergo bayonet training. One trains as a motor bike dispatch rider. The major sequence of the film shows the presentation of new colours to the regiment by HRH Princess Margaret, Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment. Guests are viewed before the procession. The band marches onto the parade ground and a salute is taken. Princess Margaret arrives by car. She inspects the guards. The old colours are marched off, accompanied by the band playing 'Auld Lang Syne'. The new colours are draped over a pile of drums to be blessed and are presented to the regiment by Her Royal Highness. There is a close-up shot of the colours. The commentary explains that the origins of the ceremony was to display the regimental colours before engaging the enemy, so that in the confusion of battle they could be easily recognised. The battalion march past with the new colours. Princess Margaret leaves by car, waving to the crowds. The film ends with a shot of the colours displayed in the regimental museum.
