Instructional film on how to operate a Broads cruiser sponsored by Blakes of Wroxham.
A man in suburbia opening his post which includes a mailshot from Blakes. He goes into his garden and shows the literature to his wife before returning to the gardening. Later he takes time to sit in his deck chair and read through the literature and falls asleep dreaming of operating a cruiser. Most of the film is a detailed instructional film about operating a Broads cruiser. Live and animated sequences illustrate the instructions given through the captions. There are interior shots of the cruiser and shots of the River Bure between Thorpe St. Andrew and Great Yarmouth, showing other water craft and general Broads views. The instructional sequences show how to start a boat, how to steer, how to cast off, how to negotiate low bridges and how to moor. The low bridge is at Potter Heigham. The family demonstrates the bridge pilot scheme. At the end of the film the father is woken by his two daughters. The family set off in their Triumph Herald for a cruise on the Broads.
