Promotional film for the Norfolk Broads.

A promotional film for the Broads presented as an ex-American serviceman taking his new wife to Broadland, to re-visit the area in which he was stationed during the war. The film begins with them arriving in Norwich in their Morris Minor. The commentary imparts factual information about the City over shots of Norwich's major Civic buildings and tourist attractions. These begin with Pulls Ferry and include the market, the Guildhall, the Castle, Elm Hill and the Strangers' Club and the Cathedral. The film moves into Broadland proper and begins with a sequence from Ranworth Church. There are views of Broadland, particularly Ranworth Broad, taken from the top of the tower. The couple spend their honeymoon in a chalet at Potter Heigham and are shown collecting the keys from the Hoseasons office. There are general holiday scenes of people lounging around on the grass in front of the chalets and riding water scooters. Sailing scenes include shots of Potter Heigham Bridge. The Bishop of Norwich is seen arriving at St. Benets Abbey to conduct an open air service. Scenes of the Abbey remains and of the service. The film continues with a sequence from Horning, showing the Ferry and the Ferry Inn. The commentary explains that this Inn received two direct hits during the war but was re-built with a traditional reed thatch roof. There are sailing scenes showing the wherry, 'Albion' at Horning and then of the Barton Regatta. The latter includes film of racing catamarans. Our couple join one skippered by Billy May. There is a shot of Hunslett Mill with a reed boat in the foreground and people fishing. There are scenes of water sports, including fishing and 'cock fighting'. These conclude the section about the Broads. The film finishes in Yarmouth, beginning with long shots of the crowded beach. The couple take a ride on a horse drawn coach along Marine Parade and Regent Street, seeing the Pavilion on the Wellington Pier and the Windmill Theatre. There are shots from the Pleasure Beach and Nelson Gardens. The film concludes with scenes from Burgh Castle and an unnamed disused airfield.
